Sanding

Did a little different jobs today.

Fitted the watertight hatches to the seat fronts.

Repaired a small mistake on the center board case

I managed to cut the forward extension of the case both too short and too high

Since the case is straight and the stringer is curved I had to do a little 3D shaping of the filler pieces

All glued up

Finally I sanded, sanded and sanded the fillets from yesterday, I really hate sanding.....

Time today: 3h

  1. Is this your first boat? It looks terrific so far. A word of advice: make sure you can reach all of the top corners inside the seats before you put the tops on (for filleting under the seat tops). I had some ... challenges with this on my Navigator build (it all worked out in the end).

  2. Thanks Wayne! Yes, it is my first build so it looks better at a distance..... Thanks for the tip on the inside of the seats filleting, unfortunately I already know that I will not be able to reach all the corners because of the center board case. So I guess I will just have to apply liberal amounts of glue and hope for the best.

I have enjoyed your blog and try to follow the same approach as you in the build, "good enough" :)(http://donumvitae.wordpress.com/2011/10/10/whats-in-a-name/)
